How Ya Doing Harbor Cov?
Hey Harbor Cov!
At Central Campus this past Sunday, we looked at the story of Elijah in the cave when God spoke to him in the silence. I have been thinking about the question God had for him there: “What are you doing here?” Now, this shouldn’t be read as like an interrogation. God knew where he was and why he was there. This was a check-in… almost like: “What’s going on in your head and your heart right now?”
So I wanted to take this time in this email to do that with you… and to check in with you. How are you feeling about all the things related to the transitions we are experiencing as a church? I would love to hear what you are excited about, what you are nervous about, and what you still have questions about.
I’ll share first.
I am excited for what’s next for both Harbor Covenant Church and the new church we are launching. You will hear me say this a lot, but I really am in awe at how faithful you have been as a congregation to be committed followers of Jesus in all of this. Your dedication to being people of hope, joy, and faithfulness in your community and spheres of influence is so important. If we can rally together during this season… imagine what we can do by God’s grace in the next season.
I am also nervous about what’s next. Yes, both can be true. With newness and excitement comes change and the unknown. I confess I can easily tend to assume and plan for the worst. I have thought about all of the “what if’s” I can think of and most of my nervousness comes around relationships. How will all these changes change the relationships I have with others?
And as far as questions… my questions revolve around what I can do to help our new Lead Pastor lead well, and our North Campus launch process go as smoothly as possible. These are big things, and you are my church family, so I am looking for ways I can chip in to keep things faithful to what God is doing. I am also really eager to hear what name the new church will be… but I can be patient with that.
So that’s where I am at. I would love to hear where you are at.
