Well That Escalated Quickly!

Published June 3, 2026

Hey Harbor Cov!

Um… it's June? I’m not ready for that. I don’t know what your June looks like, but for the Knapp family, we’re entering the month of end-of-school events, birthdays, weddings, graduations, Father’s Day, parades, summer vacations, and summer sports. Hold on, I need to check my schedule….

Yep, just as I thought… I’m cooked. To quote my friend Ron Burgundy, “That escalated quickly.” It’s going to take some extra effort and attention on our part to not get overwhelmed with all the things that are making my calendar so colorful.

Here is what I am going to do, though… and I invite you to do the same: Whatever your life has for you this summer, try to look at each aspect of it (the schedules, the commitments, the relationships, etc.) through the lens of Jesus.

For example… at birthdays, anniversaries, and graduations, how will you celebrate others and bring joy to their lives because of what Jesus has done for you and for them? How will you intentionally invest in your family members when schedules are packed and moments to love those close to you are few and far between? How will you determine what the most important things in your schedule and finances are because of what Jesus has communicated about his priorities?

That’s how I want to tackle this summer… and I want to do it on Sundays with Harbor Cov too. So we are starting a new series this week on the book of 1 Corinthians called “Dear Church.” 1 Corinthians is a letter from Paul to Christians in Corinth in the 1st Century. He writes to them about all kinds of things, but his main goal is for them to see every part of life through the lens of Jesus. We will go through the whole book this summer and explore themes of unity, wisdom, leadership, purity, devotion, liberty, justice, interdependence, love, edification, and hope.

To get ready for this series, here is a video overview of the book:
